What's Included

Cabinetry built by hand, to fit your space exactly.

Custom cabinetry at Rich Warchol Design is built in our shop, by hand, for every project. That includes kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, mudroom and laundry storage, built-in bookcases, and entertainment centers. The construction standard is the same across all of it, solid hardwood face frames, plywood box construction (never particleboard), dovetailed drawer joinery, soft-close hardware, and hand-applied finishes. Every cabinet is made to the exact dimensions of your space, so there are no filler panels and no compromise on drawer or door configuration.

Why First Coast homeowners choose us

Most cabinetry sold today is semi-custom, factory-made in standard sizes with a limited set of modifications. That's why so many kitchens have three-inch filler strips next to the fridge, a drawer that's shallower than it should be, or a corner cabinet that's awkward to use. Custom cabinetry, built by the person installing it, eliminates those compromises. The cabinet is the dimension the room calls for, not the closest standard size.

After more than twenty years building cabinetry for homes across Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Fernandina Beach, and Neptune Beach, Rich has worked with every wood species, finish type, and hardware system that performs well on the First Coast. He knows which finishes hold up to Florida humidity, which hardware survives daily use, and which drawer construction actually lasts. That experience is the difference between cabinetry that looks good in a photo and cabinetry that still works the same way in fifteen years.

Materials and construction

Frames are solid hardwood, typically maple, oak, cherry, or walnut depending on the look you want. Painted cabinetry uses paint-grade maple or poplar under a conversion-varnish finish that resists humidity and wear. Box construction is plywood, not particleboard, which means the cabinets hold their shape and stay square for decades. Drawers are dovetailed and mounted on soft-close undermount slides. Doors are either inset, partial overlay, or full overlay depending on the style you want, and hinges are concealed and adjustable.

Interior organization is part of the design, not an upgrade. We plan pull-outs, tray dividers, trash and recycling integration, spice storage, and pantry configuration around how you actually cook and live. If you have a specific appliance or item that needs a home, we build for it.

Worth knowing before you start

Cabinetry is the single biggest cost driver in a kitchen or bathroom remodel, and the place where a custom builder saves you the most. Because we build in-house, we can adjust wood species, door style, and finish to hit a budget without sacrificing construction quality. If you're choosing between a higher-end semi-custom line and our custom work, the custom work is often the same price or less, and it fits the room.

Beyond the kitchen

The same construction standard applies to bathroom vanities, mudroom storage, laundry cabinetry, built-in bookcases, and entertainment centers. When these pieces are built alongside a kitchen remodel or as part of a whole-home renovation, the finishes and hardware match across the home. That consistency is the difference between a house that feels designed and one that feels assembled.

Questions

Custom cabinetry FAQs.

How much does custom cabinetry cost in Jacksonville?
Custom kitchen cabinetry typically runs $20,000 to $60,000 and up depending on size, wood species, door style, and finish. Vanities and built-ins are quoted individually. Because we build in-house, our pricing is transparent, no showroom markup and no middleman.
How long does custom cabinetry take to build?
Cabinetry typically takes four to eight weeks to build in our shop, depending on scope and finish schedule. We start building before demolition begins so the cabinet delivery date anchors the rest of the project timeline. That's how we keep the window you're without a kitchen short.
What wood species do you use?
We work with maple, oak, cherry, walnut, and paint-grade maple or poplar for painted finishes. Frames are solid hardwood and boxes are plywood, never particleboard. We help you choose species based on the look you want, durability, and budget.
Do you build cabinetry for rooms other than the kitchen?
Yes. We build bathroom vanities, mudroom storage, laundry cabinetry, built-in bookcases, and entertainment centers. Any built-in storage in the home can be built to match the kitchen's construction and finish, which is how you get a home that feels designed rather than assembled.
What's the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinetry?
Semi-custom cabinets are factory-made in standard sizes with limited modifications. Custom cabinetry, which is what we build, is made to the exact dimensions of your space with no filler panels, and the door style, wood species, finish, and interior organization are all specified to your project. The price difference is often smaller than people expect.
